Is Once Upon A Time a daycare or preschool?
Both! Once Upon A Time Preschool has full day care and part time preschool programs. Students can come all day/every day, a few times a week, just in the mornings or just in the afternoons. Not every family's needs are the same and we want to offer a schedule that works for you.
Does Once Upon A Time follow a school calendar?
We follow the Corning Painted Post school district calendar. Our first day of school is the Thursday after Labor Day and our last day of school is the last Friday of June. We close for holidays and school breaks. We do not follow half days and conference days that are set by the district (basically, if teachers are in school, Once Upon A Time is open!). We also follow the CPP School District for closings due to weather.

How does Once Upon A Time stand apart from other programs?
Our flexibility. Because Once Upon A Time Preschool is licensed by New York State's Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) we are able to offer a more flexible schedule for parents. We offer 2, 3, and 5 days a week as well as options to attend only in the morning or all day. We also have early drop off (starting at 7:30am) and late pick up (until 4:30pm) options.
Our space. Having our learning environment in a house gives a cozy feeling that bigger facilities don't have and programs who borrow or rent space cannot duplicate.
Our teachers. As a licensed program Once Upon A Time is required to hire qualified teachers. Teachers are required to have medical clearances, background checks, First Aid and CPR certifications, and they must complete 30 hours of training every two years.

What happens if my child misses a day of school due to vacation or illness?
When possible, we offer families the ability to schedule a make up day for missed days of school.

If my child has special needs, can they attend?
One Upon A Time works with families on an individual basis to determine if our program is the right fit for them. We have served many students with unique needs.

Why is there a $200 registration fee?
We charge a registration fee so that we do not have to drown our families in fundraisers. Registration pays for supplies and other events and activities arranged by the preschool. $100 of the fee is credited back to the families in September.
